Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How do I register? Answer: Select the Register link on the left. Complete the form and click Submit at the bottom of the form. You can also register on-site the day of the conference.
Question: What is a Syllabus? Answer: A Syllabus contains materials from all of the classes at the Conference. When you register, you can order a hardcopy version of the syllabus or you can order a CD which will have the entire Syllabus on it. A FREE downloadable version of the Syllabus will be available on this Web site AFTER the conference.
Question: How do I change my registration after I have registered? Answer: If you would like to withdraw your registration or change anything about your registration, simply click on the Contact Us link to the left and submit a request for the change. Please be sure to include your name and be specific about what you want changed. A representative will contact you to let you know when the change has occurred.
Question: How will my personal information be used? Answer: We respect your privacy and will use your personal information only for registration purposes and notifying you of registration changes. We will not sell your information, nor will we use it for any other purpose. We do keep your information so that we can invite you to register for our Family History Conference next year. If you would like for us to remove your personal information, please let us know by sending us a message through the Contact Us link on the left.
Question: Do you have to be a member of the LDS Church to attend the conference? Answer: No. This conference is open for free to anyone who would like to attend, regardless of religious affiliation or personal beliefs.
Question: The registration form asks "Do you have items to display?" What does this mean? Answer: We invite anyone who attends the conference to bring items related to Family History. These could be family heirlooms, family history charts, old photographs, etc. You must register by August 15th if you want to display items so that we can accommodate your display.
Question: Does the conference make money from selling the Syllabus or lunches? Answer: No. We are a non-profit organization. The costs associated with the printed Syllabus and the Syllabus on CD are the actual cost of production. The cost of lunch is the estimated cost from a local restaurant.
Question: Why is the LDS Church so heavily involved in Family History research? Answer: Click here for information on this topic.
Question: What is the appropriate dress for the Conference? Answer: Nice casual clothes are fine. The Conference is a series of "note-taking" workshops and everyone should feel comfortable during the event to learn about family history and socialize with others who are involved.
